The McLaren F1, designed by Gordon Murray and launched in 1992, held the record for the world's fastest production car for 12 years, achieving a top speed of 240.1 mph (386.4 km/h). This performance was in large part due to its 6.1-liter V12 engine, which produced 618 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque.
