In 1987, Lotus switched from Renault to Honda engines and signed Ayrton Senna as their lead driver. The partnership was an immediate success. In 1988, the Camel sponsorship was added, and the team became known as Camel Team Lotus Honda. The Camel Team Lotus Honda continued to be competitive in the following years, with Senna winning another championship in 1990.
